And the Winner is...

… Blink, by Malcolm Gladwell

Although it was a hard-fought competition, our winner for one vote is Blink, a book about the kind of thinking that happens in a blink of an eye. What is going on inside our heads when we engage in rapid cognition? When are snap judgments good and when are they not? What kinds of things can we do to make our powers of rapid cognition better?

Many thanks to all the voters as well as the members who sent suggestions (the books that didn't make it for this poll will be the first in line for our next reading election).

And now, as we always do, let's see what we find and how we feel with a book that, maybe, you might not have read or even know about without the encouragement of our club and fellow members.

Suggested reading schedule coming soon!

  2. Good morning everybody!

I'm Mónica and I have finally found a quiet moment to introduce myself to the No Cookies Book Club! I have to start by apologizing as this might not be the right place to post this but technology and I have not got really well in the past and I'm learning by doing. So, once you know I'm not digital literate I'll tell you how I got to know the club. Well, some years ago I met Rocío in Bochum (Germany) where we both were Erasmus students. It was also in Bochum where I also got to know Jorge..but I met him before his wife...ha! Let's say that he visited Bochum as he had a friend studying there as well and we showed Jorge the real orgasmus experience :-P.

I studied English Philology and work as an English teacher in Madrid. I was born in the north of Spain though moved when I was a child to spend very nice years in Conil (Cádiz). Since then I have been moving from place to place, in fact that might be why I do not feel really attached to any location. However, I have been living in Madrid for seven years by now and therefore, dream of living abroad again. As English is my working tool I need to practice it as much as possible so that the No Cookies adventure is the perfect opportunity to do so.
I have to confess that this the very first time I read with others so I'm quite excited about this very new experience!

So...have a great Tuesday...can't wait to get Blink and start reading! See you online, guys!
