So how is it going? Are we still with Colombe and Just? Building a fort, anyone?
What do you think of the new characters? How is life on earth after traveling the seas? Do you find it very realistic that Colombe can still pass for Colin? What about the new intriguing character presented at the end of the chapter, Pays-Lo? What about the first interactions between the colonialists and the tribes? Share your thoughts!
Hi all,
ReplyDeleteI have finished the chapter and I have to say that I am starting to enjoy the book (a lot).
Now it is clear that Just & Colombe's father is dead but we still don't know much about his death (I still think that it may be a non-real, but figurative, death).
But, with all the intrigues I have to share the one that is in my mind now: Don't you think that our main characters are not brother and sister? They are physically very different and their personality is also quite different... If that is true... Are they going to get married as she once said? Are they, maybe, son and daughter from the same father but from different mother?
The new character is quite bizarre, but he may be only a way to introduce us to something different...
As I said at the beginning I am starting to get hooked, the end of the book looks promising to me now (hopefully that will make me read it faster :)
I haven't kept it up in speed reading, but still doing it... I have had the chance of speaking with one of our members that said that she just hadn't written anything yet, because each night, she doesn't want to connect herself, but to keep reading!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't thought of the possibility of the two brothers of actually not being brothers, good point Jorge! We will see what happens later on...
I am in the middle of a moving so not with that much time and energy for reading (I usually read at night). However, I am half way on the chapter and I am definitely not in the level of intrigue to think about possibilities such as the one suggested by Jorge...
ReplyDeleteAfter finishing the chapter, I still see them as brother and sister... I just think they are growing, they have matured and their personalities, with their own interests and inclinations, are more clearly arising.
ReplyDeleteAs Jorge, I am also suspicious about their father's death.
For the next chapters, I am expecting Martin will have a negative role/intervention. Also, it seems Just will play a role of responsibility, according to his new position as knight... Though the whole thing about it and the corresponding ceremony was presented too fast and I missed some kind of introduction. Anyway, looking forward to finding out!
I admit that I was impressed by Jorge's suggestion about Just and Colombe: either I am very naive or your mind is very twisted! Never thought of it. Now I look at them in a different way, trying to find hints of this new possibility, but I agree with Macarena that I still see them more as brother and sister.
ReplyDeleteThe introduction of the new character, Pays-Lo seems kind of forced to me: the author fitted him in with a shoehorn! :-)
I have reconciled with the book since I put it on the side for a few weeks, until I was in line with the schedule. Let's see how things develop...
